Joanna Solins
is a graduate student at the University of California, Davis. She is interested in understanding the effects of urbanization on riparian ecosystem properties and processes, and her graduate research focuses on riparian plant communities and soils along small streams in Sacramento, California. Before joining the Cadenasso Landscape and Urban Ecology Lab at UC Davis in 2012, Joanna earned her BA in environmental studies from Vassar College, studied stream nutrient pollution in Australia, and worked in educational publishing and non-profit communications. She has since earned an MA in geography, and is now completing a PhD in ecology. Joanna aims to inform restoration and management efforts on urban streams, and she serves on the board of Putah Creek Council.
