Mike McElfresh

is Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering at Santa Clara University where he develops and teaches courses in the Sustainable Engineering Graduate Program. He has a Ph.D. in Physics, a Masters in Chemistry, and received his B.S. in Biochemistry from UC Davis. He and his wife, Alice, have a ranch in the mountains southeast of Livermore, CA, where they raise Scottish Highland Cattle. They have worked with the NRCS for about 15 years improving the habitat quality and reforesting the property. Most recently they worked with the NCRS and RCD to develop a strategy for remediating heavy erosion in drainages that have resulted from the way water was diverted onto his property by both a neighbor and from the county road that borders the property.
